Visit from Mrs Horne

On Friday, Mrs Horne, one of our volunteer helpers, came into Year 3 to talk to the children about the history of the village of Newton. Mrs Horne was born in the village and has lived in Newton all her life. She talked about what it was like to grow up in Newton and what life was like at the old school.

The children learnt that the Romans had settled here. We found out that there used to be 3 fishermen cottages down Thames Street, Newton had very few houses and a few farms and the oldest house in Newton is the thatched house on Grange Lane.
