 A Journey around the World!

We started this topic by building on childrens interests after christmas and looking at a world map to see where The North Pole is. We learnt lots of information about The North Pole and wrote these pieces of information on post-it notes. We created a North Pole small world area.

We also looked at maps of our village and searched for key features. We went on a walk around the village and took photos. When we returned to school, we labelled what we had seen. We then labelled the photos taken in our literacy books using short captions.

Next, we learnt about The Everywhere Bear! We created questions, made predictions and went to find Everywhere Bear who had gone on an adventure around our school grounds.

Lunar New Year

We had great fun learning how Lunar New Year is celebrated around the world. We read non-fiction books to learn information and created a role-play area. We also retold the story of The Great Race.

The RSPB big Birdwatch

We took part in the RSPB big birdwatch. We had lots of fun learning about birds and exploring the forest. We went hedge searching, pretended to be owls, had mindful moments identifying birds by their beautiful songs and made bird feeders for the birds.
